What this map shows
Each shaded area is an active National Weather Service winter alert. Colors follow the NWS hazard map, so a blizzard warning reads the same here as it does on weather.gov. Click any area for the alert, the places it covers and when it starts.
Questions
- Which areas are under a winter storm warning right now?
- Every pink area on the map is an active winter storm warning. The counts beside the map show every active winter alert, each counted once however many times the National Weather Service has updated it.
- How often does the tracker update?
- Every 5 minutes, automatically. Leave the page open during a storm and it stays current.
- Where does the data come from?
- The National Weather Service's public alerts feed at api.weather.gov. Nothing is modeled or estimated.
- How do I see which of my buildings are affected?
- A map of zones tells you a storm is near. V-Intel tells you which addresses on your list are inside it, ranks them worst-hit first, and alerts your crew by email or text. Restoration companies, snow removal operators and property managers use it to dispatch before the phones start ringing.
